I am going to do a cam and spring swap, but am confused re: what cam to choose. would a 224I/224e 114lsa be a good choice? My goal is to gain performance, while maintaining reliability and driveability. also would this cam effect highway cruising? Any help or comments would be appriciated.
If this car is daily driven I would do a 224-228 with lift around .580 and an LSA of 112. If the car is just a weekend cruiser I would go bigger.
A cam shouldnt effect highway performance at all.
Driveability depends alot on the tune. My car with a medium/large cam drives great with no surging or stalling. Ive seen other cars with smaller cams drive like crap. Do your homework on the tune or the person that will be tuning the car.
I just did a 232 236 .575 .578 114
with headers it put me at 388 RWHP , nice little lope to it and its my DD , this was cam with stock heads , I did upgrade the rods and springs.

I hope you have a A4 or were on a mustang dyno with those numbers.

Why? Not every cam only M6 will dyno over 400. Take most internet numbers with a grain of salt. Most cam only A4's aren't over 360.
His car might not be full bolt-on yet either. If he's missing an UD pulley and a ported TB then he is leaving close to 15hp on the table.
A friend of mine has a 01 z06 with an X1 cam, headers, and intake that dynoed 386 I believe. If he had the UD pulley and a ported TB I bet he would have done 400.
Couldof, wouldof or shouldof. but didn't so i guess he is at 388 RWHP with a cam only ride. I did everthing except the gararge lift and I am hanging around 435 w/my A4.

My Vette is a 2000 6 speed
The cam you asked about will work great for what you want. I advise that you have it ground with +4 advance to maintain a good Dynamic Compression ratio with your existing static compression. For a little extra power, you may want to consider bumping the exhaust duration to 228 but keep the rest the same.

M6 , and as stated cam only ,with springs and rods , sorry it disappoints you ,I am happy with it Being that its my DD I am not sure I want to get into big numbers, not that a tad of 400 would bother me .
224/228 on a 114LSA lift around .580lift +4degs advance is a nice daily driver...
as you noted do the springs and 7.425 CM pushrods, then get it tuned
I have a 224I 224E .563 lift on a 114cl the 228e and the .580 lift are a better setup. highway driving is no problem, you can still lug 6th gear to low rpms without any issueds. city driving is like stock. mileage is running 28 at 70m/h with 3.90 gears for me. you will also pass inspection if necess.
look into your year and rocker arm issues. there are some early years up to 8/2002 that could spill roller bearings. this is a good time to replace them. (about $13 ea.)
