Help me pick a converter
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I had 3.73's w/ a Yank SS3200 stall, Dynatech Supermaxx headers, and the car handled like stock - my wife couldn't even tell that it wasn't stock
as you know, I'm finishing adding G5X3 Cam and AFR 205 heads, w/ a few other minor accompanying parts
Anyway, I'm very happy w/ my 3.73's and the SS3200 stall - IF I was going to do it over again, I think I'd probably go w/ the SS3600 stall, just to give me a little more on take off - not that I need it, since I can't put power down w/ runflats now anyway, but anyway
I'd have voted for both the SS3200 since that's what I've got, and for the SS3600 since that MIGHT be what I should have gone w/ (don't know for sure, and I don't think it's worth the effort so switch now),
BUT, If I were you, I'd go w/ AT LEAST the SS3200, nothing smaller, and possibly the SS3600.
Let us know what you choose!

Doing good!
I tend to be a little conservative. I put the mild cam in a few month ago now I’m tinking I should have went bigger. I first though about the SS3200 but I’m now feeling bold so I’m thinking the SS3600
I too tend to be a little conservative, and when I first got my Vette in March, 2005, I was set on keeping it all stock, or as close thereto as possible - then the mod bug bit me and I've have the dreaded disease ever since
I don't remember what gears you are running, and that might make a LITTLE difference, but as I've stated, w/ 3.73's, I don't notice my SS3200 - it's not worth doing it over (yet, anyway), but if I did, I'd go w/ the SS3600
I mean that if you plan on heads/cam, an SS3600 or PI 3200 would be my first choice. If you're going a turbo, which would use a different type of converter, I'd go with a PI 2600-2800 with 5 discs.
I have an "Old School" Yank SY 3500, which is what the SS series replaced, and Really like it. It's a lot "looser than the SS, but works for how I drive (street driven, Michelin Pilot Sport tires for now). The lower STR of the converter allow me to not overwhelm the tires like a converter with a higher STR would. Also, my midrange (from a 30- 45 mph roll) is Incredible. The car just flat out gets it!
You've got alot of stuff to think about before you buy the right converter FOR YOU! The best thing that you can do is to find someone in your area that has the converter that you like and ask them for a ride. This'd give you real world experience of the converter. Good Luck with your "Quest for the right Converter." Many of us have been there and it's not as fun as you'd imagine (at least it wasn't for me)!

headers, tune, 3.42's, corsa, halltech, and the yank and it went 11.8's all day on 18 inch drag radials.

but I didn't think I would like driving with a stall converter but after doing alot of reading I'm ready to give it a try.
