I have a '99 6M FRC with about 51k on it and I'm thinking of getting a kit. The car will have Halltech intake, LS6 intake manifold, NGK Iridium plugs, MSD Wires, Textrilla clutch with lightweight aluminum flywheel, DTE Stage II rear with 4.10's. I will have the nitrous dyno tuned. My questions are: What is the safest way to run nitrous? Wet or Dry kit? Single nozzle or a plate kit? Remove the Iridiums and go with a colder plug? What recomendations do you gentlemen have? Thanks guys!!
For a smaller shot I would go with a dry kit. Nozzle placement has much to do with the A/F on a dry kit so do your homework. For a dry kit go with a dual nozzle kit...easier to give the MAF a good reading with two nozzles "mixing" the nitrous.
I believe a wet kit is more practical with a bigger shot. It is easier to get the A/F dialed in because you just have to switch a jet until you get it right. For a wet kit Id go with a plate kit, they look and perform nice for not much more than a nozzle kit. Make sure to get a window switch with a wet kit also...dont want fuel puddling in the intake from spraying at too low of an rpm. You also dont want to hit the rev limiter on a wet shot.
Niether kit is really any safer, but for the beginner I would say the dry is a little more forgiving. Use ngk TR6 plugs gapped at .035.
I have a wet kit on mine and only running a 100 shot right now on the Plate set up. it is easier to tune than a dry kit is. Make sure to get the goodies such as WOT switch, Window switch, and a fuel pressure safety switch.
I would recommend any of your major brands.....NX, NOS, Cold Fusion etc. i heard the Zex silonoids that are self contained in the box werent the best so you may wanna stay away from those but maybe others can chime in their opinion.... I went with Cold Fusion and it is great
i have a 99 vert with a basically stock engine. i have an NX wet kit and i am spraying a 200 shot i upgraded the fuel pump and had a little dyno time and it has been on the car for over 2 years. i use an rpm window switch, hobbs fuel pressure safety switch, TPS monitor piggyback with adjuster, vss monitor and a few other odds and ends. MAKE SURE TRACTION CONTROL IS TURNED OFF!!! YOU CAN USE "COMPETITIVE DRIVING" BUT THE TRACTION CONTROL ALSO CUTS FUEL!!! THIS = MELTDOWN IN AN INSTANT!
My final dyno numbers were 512 RWHP and 608 RWTQ
I trap at over 124 mph and have stock exhaust and cats and a stock motor with over 85,000 miles! i get over 30 mpg on the highway and can almost run a 10 Nitrous is great but is inconsistent due to variations in bottle pressure etc.

Invest in a bottle heater now. They are cheap and work very well. Bottle pressure will always be constant.
NX Wet kit, huh? You have a plate kit or a single nozzle or...?
i have the shark nozzle. (single nozzle) they sell a kit for the corvette and the only difference is it uses the mass air housing to atomize the mixture and costs $500 more damn corvette tax! lol
i prefer NX and they guarantee their kits within 5 HP of what you jet them for
i bought the basic kit for $500 and bought the GEN X2 upgrade and a bunch of various electronis etc. my total setup ran about $1300.00 it took a day to install and I think NX is the best bang for your buck! NOS kits generally are 20-30 HP less than what you jet them for
BTW, i sent you a pm!

Where did you hear that the ZEX solenoids were no good at? I have the ZEX kit and it has never failed and was a super easy install. If anything I thought it was one of the best kits?
Bought a used Dynotune Dry kit from Jeffs FRC...Thanks Jeff! Kit was easy to install ..with a little tech help from Jeff...and works great. I've only used it for kickin' around town in my '99 with 110K!

It was a long time ago when I was just getting into nitrous I read it somewhere. Thats why I said maybe others can chime in about the Zex kit because I dont have any personal expierence with it. It was probably 3 years ago when I read that. Glad to hear its a great kit !

The shop I take my Z06 to likes the ZEX kit a lot...especially for beginners. I discussed it last night with him. There are a lot of pluses on the ZEX kit. I am now thinking of putting my Z on the bottle...something I never thought I would ever think about!
Also check out the nitrous section in the forums at LS1tech.com They have some good gurus over there too. I'm going with a 100 hp dual nozzle dry shot. The computer power on the 97 and up LS1's make it a natural for dry nitrous. Chuck.
I've heard a lot of people say that if your running a dry kit you need high impedance injectors, otherwise the extra load required by the nitrous tends to kill them. Is this true?
I'm planning on adding nitrous to my 99 M6 Coupe also. I purchased a ZEX wet kit about a year ago for my LT1 Camaro. Should I use it, or go with a dry kit or another wet kit? I'd hate to mess with my good daily driver tune.
