I have a 6sp 2001 Vette and I hate the way the shifter is long and not as precise. In my former car a 1992 C4 I've got a B&M shifter installed and it was amazing.
I see that there are two options of B&M shifter for this model. The 45044 which seems to be an older model and the 45057 which is what I've found online at B&M's website. Which shifter is better?
Anyone experienced with these? I've browsed the forums but I did not find any mentions to which shifter, just B&M shifter.
#45044 is their new model Precision short shifter. I put it in last month and its great. No noise or vibration and not really much harder to go through the gears vs stock shifter, but its 33% less throw and each gear is precisley engauged (and I slam gears at 6K all the time street driving) and reverse and 5th much easier to get into. I bought mine for $168 shipped.
I have the #45057 on a 98 6-speed and it's great; positive feel, short throws, no slop.............all good. It was in the car when I got it so I can't speak of the before/after comparison, but I'm very happy with it.
Put the 45044 in my 2000 a couple of months ago. Very pleased. No vibration with stock shift ****. Tight, short throw and precise. Excellent from 2nd to 3rd. Used stock boot and looks great.
