Default Rebuild or turn-key

In your opinion, would it be cheaper to have a 383 built or to buy an assembled long block (similar to Texas Speeds 402 long block at 7400.00).

I've been tossing the idea around for a while, I know I should make some calls to some local shops. But, I'm just not too sure if I really want to do this. Like I said, just in the planning stages now.

Thanks for your help,

If your stocker is still in decent shape I'd sell it complete and apply the funds to an LS2 402 or something along those lines when the time comes.

As for funds it's probably going to be a wash either way as you'll still want a new cam, set of cylinder heads, crank, pistons, rods, rings, bolts, etc.

I had a separate long block built so when I dropped off my car at the shop the motors could just be swapped (as the alternative can be a couple of months of waiting depending on the machine shop schedule, parts delays, etc).
