Default How to check fuel pump?

After doing some reading in the forums, I beleive the starting problem may be fuel pump.

1. When I turn on the key should I hear the pump start? (I don't hear anything, quite as a mouse)

2. Is there an easy way to tell if I am getting fuel to the engine when I turn the key on?

thanks

Yes you should be able to hear a buzzing/humming sound when the key is in the on position.

You can dis connect the fuel line from the fuel rail ( the braided line). You will need a quick dis connect tool for that. Once that line is off, I would have a bowl or something similar under the line. Turn the ignition to power accessory, if you dont have fuel coming out of the line the pump is dead.

You can also check your pressure at the Shrader valve on the front of the driver-side fuel rail. Unscrew the cap and attach a pressure gauge if you can borrow or rent one.

If it is quite, it could be a bad pump or bad fuse/relay. Check the cheapest and easiest item first.

I take it this is a no start?

I would def check for fuel pressure and volume. if it's 0 I would check the relay make sure we have power and ground where we need it, and make sure there is power and ground at the pump before condeming it.

as said usually you can hear them, if you just turn the key on but not to crank it should come on for about 2 seconds to prime the system.
