Default Knock Sensor Troubleshooting

Had my '01 in for the AIR valve repair (2nd time in less than 2 years...passenger side as luck would have it). Didn't even get a mile from the dealership and my CEL comes on again. Performed a quick diagnostic on my way back to the dealer and 2 codes were set..P0327 and P0332, front and rear knock sensors. Given that the manifold was removed and reinstalled for the P1416 repair, isn't it likely that either the knock sensor harness jumper was disconnected or the sensors themselves were damaged in some way during the repair. For both codes to set simeltaneously and immediately after the AIR service, I've got to think this was more than a coincidence. Before I make my argument with the dealer I'd like to get a few expert opinions. I'll bet the harness is the source of the DTC's, not the sensors. On the other hand there is a TSB on knock sensors(moisture build up or something I believe) for my model year C5. Without blinking the dealer of course offered the usual assessmant/recommendation....sensors are bad we have to replace your sensors.

Appreciate your comments.

If you are a DIY'er:
------------------------------------
Disconnect the KS jumper harness connector that is located on the left side of the intake manifold (Unless the dealer disconnected somehow and problem is solved).
Set the DMM (Digital Multmeter) to the 400K ohm scale.
Measure the resistance of the appropriate KS by connecting the DMM between a good ground and the knock sensor jumper harness connector.
Is the resistance of the KS within the specified range?
93-107Kohms

Leave the DMM connected.
Set the DMM to the 400 mV hertz voltage scale.

Important
Do not tap the plastic engine components.
Tap the engine in the area of the appropriate KS while you observe the signal that is indicated on the DMM .

Is any signal indicated on the DMM while you tapped on the engine block near the KS?

Disconnect the PCM connector. Refer to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Replacement .
Test the KS signal circuit between the PCM and the knock sensor connector for the following conditions:
An open
A short to voltage
A short to ground

I doubt the sensors were damaged due to their location, chances are it's a connection issue...

I would tend to agree with you. May even have pinched wires when the intake was re-installed or maybe as Wolfster suggested, a disconnected harness plug.
BTW, the TSB related to moisture issues was usually as a result of guys washing their engines and getting too much water up under the intake. It would end up getting past the KS boots and down into the recess where they reside.
HTH,
Robert
