DAP - Friend of mine owns an Amoco and claims that their refinement process is better than Sunoco. Even though the octane reported maybe higer by Sunoco, he calims that Amoco fuel runs cleaner and hotter. So he claims...
I run Amoco. Why? Because the Sunoco dealer's lot is real small, always crowded and the Amoco is closer! :D
Re: Amoco 93 vs. Sunoco 94 - Sorry CA :( (VetteMan2k1)
I always run Sunco 94 because there are no Amoco's in Canada. When I'm in Michigan though I will fill up at an Amoco because the 94 is a fortune in comparison. Personally if one was next to the other I would fill up at either, both good quality.
Re: Amoco 93 vs. Sunoco 94 - Sorry CA :( (97silverbullet)
I heard somewhere, too, that Amoco was superior quality. I cannot compare it to Sunoco, however, because that chain doesn't exist in this part of the state. I exclusively use Amoco Ultimate 93, and have been very happy with it
Re: Amoco 93 vs. Sunoco 94 - Sorry CA :( (MDL-01C5)
Amoco 93 and I'll tell you why...
Sunoco contains "methanol" which I have been told is not too good for your engine. I have heard that numerous times, so I'm staying away from fuel that contain methanol. Amoco does not use it.
At least in Mi SOME Sunoco fuel has ETHANOL, not methanol. I avoid those sunoco stations, it says right on the pump if they use it. Either -OH group has lower BTU output than gas. I use an alternating mix of amoco, sunoco, mobil and shell. Been told all have various levels of different additive packages, and by alternating fuel brands you gain the advantage of some additive effectiveness from every type/brand. If I go to the track, I'll try to use the highest octane, 94, sunoco.
The BEST reason to use AMOCO,93/the Ultimate/crystal clear/ is just that: Amoco 93 is the Only automobile gas in U.S. that is CLEAR, no dye, so what that means is you know when you look at it that it is really the good 93 stuff, and not something else(regular, low grade) pumped in the premium tank. Now while getting regular instead of premium is only a pain for most Vette drivers, guys with supercharged cars, or modified Waverunners , HAVE to have the real premium.
