I have a 2002 Vette, and the CEL came on last week, so I took it to AutoZone. They asked me if I wanted the light turned off, so I said, "Sure". I didn't realize they meant PERMANENTLY! It doesn't even come on during the crank-up "self-test" when all the other dash lights do.
Is there a way to get it back on via the DIC, in case there is another problem in the future? My active code is P1416, and there were almost 20 H codes in memory, but it has been wrecked in the past.
BTW, I didn't know about the code reading capability on the dash until AFTER I went up there and they hooked up their Actron.

Thanks,
Other than a burned-out bulb I wasn't aware that you could disable the SEL. Maybe Bill Curlee will jump in and shed some "light" on that one. One thing I've noticed reading a lot of the posts, either people don't get or if they have one, don't read the Owners Manual. There is a bunch of good info in there i.e., reading DIC codes, calibrating the TPS, maintenance specs, etc.. If you don't have one they can be purchased from www.HelmInc.com. They are the official printers.
First cold day in a while, started the car, orange security light remained on. Stopped car, restarted, security light went out. Checked DTC, no codes. Now it behaves normally. Never occured again. Crazy!
