Default Horsepower/Mods Question?

My 2001 6Speed coupe is stock. I was thinking of adding the Corsa Indy Catback exhaust system along with the Vortex Ram Air kit. Stock numbers on my car are 350HP and 375TQ.

Does anyone have this combo?
What kind of HP increase can I expect?
How about 1/4 mile ET's?

My goal is to get the car as close as possible to a 2001 Z06 w/385HP and to run in the high 12's.

Thanks

I have a '01 MN6. I've only been in the game a couple of months, but have a few mods (Bang For The Buck) you will need to give you a shot at close to 400hp...

Stage 1

1. Vortex Cold Air
2. Something with the MAF (I have a GMS MAF 5%)
3. LAPD High Flow Air Duct and Coupler (looks factory and a few more HP)

The whole combo, is probably good for 20-30 HP

Consider adding a cooler thermo & fan controller or chip (not done yet)

Stage 2 (not done yet)

4. Full length headers, cutting out pup cats
5. X pipe

15-25 hp

Expect only a few HP from the muffler systems. Buy more for sound. I've seen PRTS magazine tested get 11 hp to the rears (on a stock '01), and a Z06 will give you a few horses and save you 20 pounds.

While the 400 hp bolt on club can be debated, I believe it can be achieved with the right parts.

When we added the Vortex it was good for ~12-15 RWHP; exhaust does not really do anything for HP. Remember, the Z06 not only has more HP & TQ, but it maintains better HP/TQ over a broader RPM range; i.e., a much flatter curve.

Some people have run in the high 12.s with a Vortex; in fact you can get into the 12's (with a good driver) with a stock C5.

Get a Ripper shifter for your M6...It could take up to .25 secs off your 1/4 time! Plus, once you get it on you'll love it and you will have terrible nightmares about the stock shifters long throw! The Ripper is much more notchy feeling and a bit louder, but the performance is well worth the money. It really brings out the thunder in driving a M6.

Mine is a 2000 MN6. It dynoed at 327RWHP with Donaldson Blackwing Intake, Corsa Indy ProTips and MAF Screen removed.

The TPIS LT headers are getting put on by MTI. They should have the car done today. I can't wait to pick it up after work.

I'm hoping for another 13RWHP to make it 340RWHP (400HP @ the crank) :smash: :smash: :smash:

There is a group dyno @ MTI on Sat 10/27. If that one won't go through, then there is another on Sat 11/10.

I will post the new # as soon as I have it.
