Default Coolant tank question

Ok, I have a question about the coolant tank..

I removed the coolant tank, washer fluid tank, fuel rail covers, radiator cover to have them painted.

There is two hoses that run to the coolant tank (one from the radiator and the other from the firewall. Is there a way to connect them while the tank is out? Will that hurt the car if I start it up but not drive it?

I am asking cause I received my Halo tail lights and in the instructions it says the car should be running. I am wanting to install them but dont want to screw anything up.

Thanks for the input.

Tim

The cap on the reservoir is the only pressure relief for the system, (other than blowing a hose ), so I would not recommend trying to run the engine up to full operating temperature without the tank.

The tank also provides an air space to allow for some expansion of the coolant as it heats up, which would also be eliminated if you bypass it.

It woud be a good test to see what part of the system is the weakest and blows first!

How long will the painting of the parts take? When I painted mine I bought a new coolant tank to paint then swapped out when all were done. No down time. If it is going to be a while and you need it up and running let me know and I can sell you my extra.
