I thought I was home free......after 121,000 it took a crap. I didn't know about cutting the plastic above the unit. I removed the intake, oh well, at least I learned something new.
just replaced mine for the 2nd time in a month.... it's the cold air i'm sure... and the oil i'm using... to much oil pressure... if i run through the gears and push to redline.. i bet i pop the oil pressure sensor every time.. good thing after the first one the rest are free..
Before you embrace the easy cut away method, look at these issues raised recently. You might find that other annoyances can arise by doing this. Perhaps the relocation method might be better:

My local parts house has a life time warranty on my BW sensor... So i can replace it weekly if need be... i requested they stock the part... if i blow enough of them up, i'm sure they will figure out a way to prevent such a problem...
actually with this nice little hole, i'm thinking my engine bay actually might stay a little cooler this summer.
For all those that dont recover the hole, think about this; The HVAC intake takes a suction from that area. Any holes in that area may allow engine fumes and heat to enter the HVAC systen and make its way inside your cabin. Just something to think about.
