Default Heads for my setup?

I need suggestions for heads given my setup. I'd like to stay around $1,500 or less. I'm looking for power under the curve. I already have spings/pushrods. Whats the next step up from LS6 heads? Patriot, PRC? Should I just get the LS6 heads? Also, my friend doing the install has LS7 lifters, is there any benefit of using these in my car?

About the best bargain in quality heads are the "as-cast" 220cc Trickflow heads. I think Vengence has them, and they're around your budget, IIRC.

I'll look into those. Is there a benefit to installing ls7 lifters?

To late, they're sold.

I think I'm going either PRC ls6 stg.2 or PRC 5.3 stg.2.

Which would be better?

You might want to try also posting in the LS1 forum. Lots of good knowledge there too. Do you know what your HP & TQ numbers are now at your current setup.

My car is getting a few upgrade since the last dyno. With the stock 98 manifold/heads/cam she put down 341 whp and 350 wtq. She's undergoing surgery at the moment. Ls6 manifold, 228r cam, ls7 lifters, a few other goodies. Still figuring out heads.

PRC Stg 2.5 LS6, Texas-speed have done there homework on those. I am planning on using these in the near future. The ls7 lifters are just a new lifter, not sure if there is any advantage. I have 98,xxx on my c5z and still have the stock lifters. Might want to get them milled or use a thinner head gasket to bump that compression up also. My $0.02

Awesome! I have a 224/228 xer on 114 with lg streets now and would like to see what you make so it gives me a ball park on the gains. Im guessing what i have now makes bw 410-425rwhp, would be happy with anything over 440rwhp and around or over 400rwtq with these heads. I am also planning on decking them to get 11.0:1cr. Good luck and report back!
