reverse lights stopped working- what should I check first?
I noticed while backing up in the dark the other night that my reverse lights stopped working. All other lights work. What should I check? Is there a fuse just for the reverse lights?
According to the manual for the '99 that I use to have, the engine compartment micro realy #38 is the item, but strange that I don't see a fuse for them. You need to also check the switch connection itself on the transmission.
If you can use the FOB to unlock the car, the reverse lights should come on (with all the other lights if you have the approch feature set) which will prove a lot of the circuit good. Nine times out of ten, the small switch on the passengers side of the manual transmission (dont know where it is on an auto) goes bad.
I'd be changing the reversing light switch. Hers a pic that may help. You'll get somefluid leakage so be ready with the new switch as you pull the old one.
ck fuse under pass side dash. yes there is a box under there, it has a reverse fuse only! dont ask!
Actually two fuses. One for operation when the car is in reverse (minifuse 21, IP fuse box), and one for operation by the BCM when unlocking the car (minifuse 2 underhood fuse box)...
