Default Corbeau Forza II Install: Lots of Pics

I posted in a thread about a week ago that I installed a Corbeau Forza II in my Z06. I originally installed the seat with a G-Force 6 point harness and it was brought to my attention that it was not intended to be used without a Cage and HANS device. I did a little research and found that the Schroth Profi II ASM FE is a street legal harness that is designed to be used without a HANS device. I ordered a Profi II ASM FE so I wouldn't catch any flack from the local police and I installed it today.

I had a forum member ask me if the stock seat belts could be retained with the Forza II and at the time I didn't know because I had not tried it. After I investigated a little I came to the conclusion that the stock seat belts deffinately could not be retained using the G-Force harness due to the size of the bolt brackets on the lap belt. The bolt in brackets were too large to use the stock seat belt bolt on the door side while the seat belt was installed. That is not the case with the Schroth harness. The ends of the harness are bendable and much smaller than the G-Force harness. I have a few pics that will illustrate how I made the door-side lap belt fit with the seat belt retractor.

Now, I said that the door side of the seat belt can be retained but with the seat I have(Forza II is wider than the standard Forza) the seat belt receptacle will not fit between the seat and the tranny tunnel. I show a pic where the receptacle is bolted onto the seat and I am sure with the standard Forza seat it will work as pictured but it WILL NOT work with the Forza II. I do not have any experience with any other harness brands or models so I have no idea if they will or will not fit.

Here are a few pics

This is the lap belt connected to the seat track using the bolt from the stock seat track. I had to have a friend sit in the seat on the ground while I used a large rubber mallet to bend the lap belt bolt bracket in toward the seat about a half an inch. I tried to install the seat before I bent the bracket and the bolt kept binding on the carpet. You may be able to make it fit but I recommend bending the tab.

The receptacle connected in addition to the Schroth harness(I did not install my seat like this)

With the Schroth harness you get bendable bolt tabs. The door-side lap belt tab needs to be bent like you see in the pic. If the belt is laying on a surface with the pull tab facing up you want to bend the tab up 90 degrees.

Then you will install the belt as seen in the pic. It is installed on the same bolt as the lower seatbelt retractor.

Then you can re-install the plastic trim.

Then I recommend installing the shoulder belts. I have Gary's Hardbar. Which I strongly recommend if you don't have a harness bar or roll cage.

If you have Gary's Hardbar you can bolt the stock shoulder belt bracket to the harness bar as shown.

After the shoulder belts are installed you can put the seat in. With the Forza II the fit is very tight and it took some work to get all of the bolts to line up with the seat slider. I'm sure it will be much easier with a narrower seat. After the seat is installed you can feed the belts through the holes and you are done.

Nice write up.

I had a set and they were very comfortable. The only problem was, they didn't fit with my existing roll bar. I didn't feel like having it cut out and having a new one installed, so I had to put the stockers back in.

love the look of the seats. i just had a set in mine. could not stand the seating position. i had them out in less than a weekend. they would have been great for the track as they really held you in place.

I would not want these seats in a DD car. They are comfortable enough to drive around occasionally but getting in and out of these seats daily would be tiresome. Not to mention that it takes about 15-20 seconds to get the harness buckled each time.

They are comfortable for long stints in the car but the hard part is getting in and out.

IMO, getting out is the worst. I would just drop my *** in, just like the stock seats. But climbing out can be difficult, especially if you're shapely at all.

Definitely more difficult getting out. I am about 6'5" and 255lbs so I needed this wider seat and I have to have it all the way back. I just ordered a Pre-2003 FRC headliner to improve the head room even more.

Sorry - nevermind, I just read the post in it's entireity and noticed you didn't keep the stock belts...

what did you do about the seat belt light? I am in the middle of installing a pair of Corbeau A4's and have a feeling the seatbelt light is going to permenantly be on unless I can figure out what pins to jump on the connector under the seat...

TIA

I was worried about that as well. I installed the seat and I never had a problem. No light ever came on.

As far as the door closing. The door very lightly touches the door panel. It's not an issue but it did make me nervous before I got the thing completely installed.
