I'm in the middle of installing my new differential, and I rounded off one of the nuts pretty bad (don't ask ). It's one of the nuts that holds the differential to the transmission. Anyway, I need to replace it and I was wondering if it was a hardened nut or not?
You can use any flanged metric nut. There are two different sized on the diff. The side are something like 10x1.5 (15mm heads) and the top and two bottom are 8x1.5 (I Think, don't hold me to it) - these are 13mm heads).
Home depot or Lowes should have something you can use. In an emergeny, use a non-flanged nut with a flat washer.

Thank you!! I had a few of those flanged bolts laying around, but I wasn't sure if I could use them since they weren't hardened.
The differential is back in; now I have to install the rest of the rear... well not tonight
