Had the car into the shop for some work, they were behind the dash...
Now the Oil Temp in tye DIC just reads LOW - so I assume it's not getting a signal.
Checked the sender above the oil filter, connector is still attached, and nodody was near that area.
Are all the connectors behiond the dash in one large connector for all the DIC displays, or are there separate connectors?
Logically, I suspect something behind the dash is loose, but it's less likely if if everything uses one block connecter thsn if there are individual connector.
All other displays are OK, oil press, water temp, etc...
There is a glitch in the computer software for oil temperature. If it is under 15 F, the oil temperature will just show "low" and keep showing this until it is turned off and the oil temperature is above 15 F.
I would assume that you found out this, but here is the reason.

I didn't try thr off/on scenario. Will try it this afternoon.
When I ranm the engione, the water temp was up to 180, so I know the oil was hot. NOw it's been in the garage where it above 50, so I'll see.
You were right on, working fine now. Wow, that saved me some major headaches. The oil temp does read about 20 degrees lower than the real temp - 56-57 in the garage, water temp reads 56, but oil temp shows 36.
Wonder if the error is through the entire range, or only at low temps...??

Don't forget your oil pan is lower than your radiator. There could be temperature gradients in your garage. Radiator also holds heat longer as well as underhood insulation.
glad to see you figured out your problem i have had my oil temp sensor replaced 2 times in a few weeks and still showing erratic numbers on the D.I.C., shop said it could get expensive to trace wires and find the actual problem, coolant and other temps are fine so i know the oil temp is fine, however it starts off great around 200 then while cruising starts to drop a lot, even went down to read low so i have no idea anymore.
So if I tried the on/off method and it didnt work, where is the oil temp sensor so I can replace it and does anyone happen to have a part number?? Thanks
Look just above the oil filter, and you'll see the sensor wiring there. The sensor is mounted in a bracket that is attached to the oil filter assembly. The "bracket" is held on by two bolts. Don't open the bolts, just disconnect the wiring and remove the sensor itself. Install the sensor (17 ft lbs of torque), attach wires ... go pour yourself a beer!!
