OK, I'm making good progress with my HUD install.
The car is all apart, the wiring is done, and the projector
is in the car. BUT - where everyone else has been talking
about drilling mounting holes or using double-sided stick
tape, my 2004 has a pair of studs in the dash that the
rear mounting tabs of the projector fit over perfectly.
The problem is - I can't figure out what size nuts I need
for these studs. They're a fine-pitch, probably metric,
but nothing I have in the garage fits, so I don't know what
I need. The '04 Service Manual shows the nuts, buts
doesn't say what size they are.
I ran across the same thing in our 2004; if i recall correctly one of the other nuts from some part of the dash/console removal for the HUD install fit the studs correctly. I just took that nut to HomeDepot and found identical one. Don't remember the size though.

Yeah, I thought of that, and tried the ones from the shifter
closeout, but those didn't fit. Oh, I wonder if it's the ones that
hold down the console? I'll try those tonight. Anyway, thanks
for the tip, I'll keep looking.
On the plus side, I started the car and the HUD works, so I'm
pretty psyched to get this all back together.
