Default High oil pressure

Ok so maybe a week ago my oil pressure gauge went all the way over to the right and the digital readout shows the oil pressure to be 129 or 130 psi. The car is running fine and isn't throwing codes. I changed the oil today (hoping maybe that was the problem) and it's still doing it. Could this be a bad sensor? Does anyone have any ideas where to start troubleshooting this one? Please help!

Should of asked here from the get go and saved your oil...you need to replace your oil pressure sender.

Thanks hammer. I was due for an oil change anyway. Any idea what the oil pressure sensor runs?

The sensor is about $35, cost to install at dealer about $350. You can DIY, about 2 hours the first time, do a search for procedure. A lot of times the second sensor goes bad in a short time. Do not exceed 15 ft-lbs torque.

Some people relocate the sensor. There is also a method of taking out your wiper panel and cutting a hole in body to make it easy (without removing intake manifold) to replace the sensor. Do a search to find these methods.

BTW, turn ignition to on, with engine off, if your gauge or DIC shows pressure, your sensor is bad. You should only have oil pressure with the engine running.

Sounds like a bad sensor to me. Good luck getting it fixed.
