Default question on performance

I am a current owner of 98 vette a4 convertible and am looking to get a 2001 vette convertible mn6. My friends own a 281-sc saleen mustang and my other friend owns a roush stage 3 mustang. Currently they kill me whenever we go for fun drives together. Would the 6 speed help me keep up with them on the highway and back roads? I hate having them pass me and wave in their stangs, I have nothing against stangs because I am a former owner and still a fan. Thanks all.

an 01 with a 6 speed should be a little bit quicker, for 01 they raised the hp and torque over prior years, and the mn6 has a wider gear multiplication range which should be quicker than an a4, but, the end results are always the same, the better driver in equal cars will always win

If it bothers you that much, get a Z06. If you want a convertible, then get the 6-speed. To assure you will blow by them, add a few mods to 'beef-up' the HP & TQ.

Thanks guys. I definitely want to keep a convertible because I like driving wit the top down. Are there any mods I can do that wont void the factory warranty especially if I get a brand new vette? Thanks again everyone for your help.

Install an after market intake such as a vortex, exhaust makes it sound better, but no horsepower, an xpipe helps, gives a little hp. With these mods and a TTS Powerloader II. I make 329 hp and 318 tq. Ran a 13.14@107 with a 60' of 2.05 (my best so far :D 12's are coming :D :D )

Thanks Mike.
I am planning on changing the exhaust and getting an x-pipe. have you evre had experience with the twin flow since I was planning on getting that in stead? Also will a GM ZO6 intake and GM ZO6 airflow sensor void the warranty? THanks.
