Hey guys im not sure if I am in the write section but I purchased my 97 vette like 3 weeks ago and I am inlove as I am sure are most of you. The problem that I am having is that my passenger window is not working. I took the panel off and the motor seems to be working but the window just dosent go down. I was just wondering if any of you have gone through this and if so what is the fix? Also my remote is not working. I think the battery was dead so I replaced the battery do I have to reprogram it when I changes the battery?
I am not sure how you know the motor is working if the window does not move? Most I have seen, you can hear the relay click, but nothing moves.
There are lots of posts on how to get the window freed up, including replacing the whole regulator assembly. If you already have the door panel off, look at the drive cables and make sure they look in good shape, and tap on the motor while operating the switch to see if it will break loose. Once you get them working, make it a point to operate the window fully up and down periodically to keep them working.
there have been a few posts about sticky pass windows... cuz no one uses them. Anyway, banging on the door while holding the button seems to be the 'fix' everyone uses. Then use it every few weeks.
The 'non-working' passenger window happened to me just this week...first day in months it was warm enough to consider rolling it down. A quick check on this forum and someone had mentioned "percussive maintenance" I think was the phrase . I'll be damned if it didn't work like a charm...two quick raps just to the right of the speaker and the window worked like new. As others have noted, it's probably a little corrosion on the contacts.
This is a common problem on other GM cars too. My 2001 Chevy Blazer, had the sticky window motor.. A few taps on the motor and walla!! Problem fixed... If you take it in to a shop you will pay 500.00 for parts and labor.. And no ,they will not tap on the window motor at all.. The $500.00 is for the Chevy Blazer at Firestone Automotive... I'm sure the Vette will be more.. I was pissed when I heard the quote so I did some research on AutomotiveForums.Com. An excellent resource for problem solving for any make and model car.. I highly recommend this website.. Whatever problems you have with any car you own... Someones been there and done that.. Just like this Forum.. Is the Internet an amazing resource for information or what... Gotta love it

It seems to be quite a common problem for the passenger window motor to stop working. The problem seems to stem from the fact that the window does not get used very often. Try to use the windows at least once a week to keep the motors in good working order. My '99 widow stuck recently and the best tip I received was to hold the door window button just as you close the door (fairly firmly). The tip worked perfectly.
