Default Quick Question about Lowering, after searching.

I found these sites:

http://www.frankhunt.com/FRANK/hobbi...5_Lowering.htm

http://www.z06vette.com/diy_lower.php

It seems they both say to leave about 2 threads showing on top of the bolts, for front and rear. But, what if I wanted to not lower it that much? Could I leave 4 or 5 threads showing? Trying to lower without getting an alignment(if thats possible).

Thanks,
Jason

Jason don't be scared of the 4 wheel alignment. I had mine done after lowering and it improved the drivability of my car for a mere $88 including tax. This is for a 4 wheel computer alignment with print outs both before and after the job at my local National Tire and Battery.

I have heard that "ONLY" the dealer should align the car. Other places do not know how to align a C5.

I think that is a pretty big misconception. Sure, the dealer knows what specs that alignment should have, as does any competent alignment shop. The real tell is the person doing the alignment. Ask around for some references and that should point you in the direction of a shop that does quality alignments.

My official dealer here in Germany f****ed up the alignment after lowering the car. Result was two ruined rear tires. A local alignment shop did the job perfect for half the price. BTW, it was the first time for them doing a 4 wheel alignment on a C5.

Well, I just finished. Not to bad all, the front was a bit of a pain. It would have nice if I have a 10mm rachet wrench, but oh well. The rears were a different story, I thought let me do the hardest part first(the front). So, I jack up the rear and and see the bolts. Both instructions say to leave about 2 threads showing, well, I did not have to turn one bolt in the rear. There were already 2 threads showing, someone must have already lowered the rear.

Gonna drive around for about a week and check the alignment.

So the rear was lowered but the front was at stock height? Was the car pushing like snowplow?

It looked normal. I hope the car doesn't look stupid with the nose lower than the rear.
