Default Houston, I think we have a problem...

So on the way to work this morning I was cruising on the highway at about 75mph. All of a sudden my car missed for about 1 second and the check engine light flashed on and right back off. After that it was smooth sailing but about 2-3 miles later it did it again. It is a 2000 auto w/ just over 53,000 miles. Could this be a spark problem?? I almost used the same manly instinct that makes us think that banging on things fixes them and mashed the gas but I fought the urge.

I had that happen when my plugs were at the end of life. Pull one and check it to see if it's black etc. Might be time to change them out. It's a cheap way to troubleshoot a bit.
Also, check your dic for codes too and post them.

The only time your Engine light will flash is due to a misfire in one or more cylinders. Like said above check the plugs/wires. I would replace them myself.
