Default Active Handling

Has anyone attempted to add active handling to a C5 which did not have it as original equipment. What equipment (e.g.sensor) must be added? How much work was required?

Many sensors, control computer……Cost prohibitive.
This link gives an overview.

You'd have to add the following parts, at least ...

1) EBCM that is enabled for Active Handling
2) Yaw rate sensor
3) lateral accelerometer
4) May need steering angle sensor

Depending on your car, it is possible you would have to add wiring for all of this, as I believe the wiring looms before JL4 was offered have no wiring for the sensors.

I'd guess parts alone would run about $1,500.00

Default Active Handling

Thanks for the input. I did not know when the wiring change was made, but will check my vin # to determine if my 99 has the proper harness. As far as parts go I thought I could salvage them for a car being parted out.

Maybe this will help with the wiring question.

The EBCM has a large wiring connector on it. The connector is a 29 pin connector. The upper row of pins are numbered 1 thru 15, and the lower (shorter) row of pins are numbered 16 thru 29. If you disconnect the connector and turn it so the pins are pointing toward you, the 1 and 16 pins will be the leftmost pins.

Check for the following wires on the following pins ...

pin 5 - Light Green / Black
pin 17 - Black
pin 19 - Dark Blue

If those wires are part of yur wiring, then the harness is JL4 (Active Handling) capable. If those wires aren't there, then you'll need to look into adding all the wiring for the JL4 option.
