I need to fix a loose pass. side headlight. Not sure yet if it is the assembly or the bracket that is the cause of the problem. From what I gather, the 2000 on assembly will not work on a 98. Will the 2000 on bracket alone fit? Thanks.
The older 97-99 units are better! Then newer ones have a cheaper motor/gearbox. Both can be used in any C5.
I have one of each in my 99 since the driver side was replaced under warantee (big mistake, have had nothing but trouble with the "newer" style).
If the gears are not stripped, look for the motor being loose. If so, re-crimp the tabs that hold it together. If the gears are stripped, get Rodney's brass gears. If you are reasonably mechanically inclined, repairs are not that hard. Dealer fix is to replace everything, about $600 I think.
