Default Z06 Automatic

Allright I apologize in advance for possible blasphemy, but I am wondering if anyone has ever converted a Z06 over to an automatic transmission? My problem is I love the look of the bodystyle on the Z06 but don't think my older knees will stand up to constant clutch use.

J/K man, yes, it's been done before. Get ahold of Rodney at RPM transmissions, he can do the conversion for you, and would probably credit you some $$$ if you let him keep all the 6 speed stuff!

Have you driven a C5 with a MN6 or MN12 ? These are NOT like the old-time clutches, hydraulic's has helped greatly ! The current clutches are not hard to use. My 1964 M22 Rock Crusher would leave you hurting in heavy traffic, not so with my 1998 C5 Coupe.

Oldvetter-
Thanks for your input! My only concern is that I would like to use car to commute a couple of days a week and we can have up to an 1 - 1 1/2 hour commute on a bad day. Maybe I need to move!!

Also keep in mind another option would be to get a FRC (fixxed roof coupe). They look like the Z06 with a standard C5 drivetrain.

We've done at least 5 of them and we are in the process of doing 2 more right now. Give us a call if you have any questions we'd be happy to answer them for you.

you have a legit technical question; and you don't need to justify why.

Amen. I had my FRC switched over to an auto and I absolutely love it. Shifting is very over rated in my opinion.

You could always get an auto convertible and buy a hard top for it, plus you would have they ability to take the top off too(which is a deal breaker for me and a Z)

I'm with you, almost!!! I can see a day when I'll switch over to automatics. Today I still enjoy shifting and my knees are still good. So hell yes, change it to an auto. Just don't stop driven a vett.
