My battery is dead, just like many others it seems like !! When I go to charge it (following directions from the charger), there are some weird noises. As per the instructions + clamp to + terminal of battery, then put the - clamp on a part of unpainted frame or metal for a grounded source. I did that. Once I plug the charger in and set it to the 2amp slow charge I hear 2 noises, 1 from the front of car other from the back. The noise in the back I noticed was my 12 disc changer cycling through. The other noise from up front (as best as I can describe with words) is a slighty muffled, but steady poping (sounds like the second hand on a grandfather clock). I've never had noises from a car that had a battery being charged while in it. Any ideas?? Or should I just charge the battery after pulling it out? Thanks boys
whenever I charge any battery I connect directly to the pos and negative posts on the battery. If the cable is bad or any of the ground points are bad you will tax the charger. When you go to the ground points you increase the resistance to the circuit.
Not sure you can charge a fully dead battery with a 2 amp charger? Whenever my batteries are dead, I use my 10 amp automatic Sear's charger. It cycles down to 5-7 amps quickly, then stays there for 3-5 hours, then drops to 1-2 amps.
I also have a 1 to 2 amp battery maintainer, that I use to keep batteries charged up.
I would not be concerned with the noises, things are being powered up.
