Yesterday I was out for a cruise in my '01 Z06 with about a half tank of gas when I encountered a dip in the street, which I slowed to about 20 mph for. Immediately after crossing the dip I hear a message ding and look at the dash and the low fuel message is displayed and the fuel gauge is bottomed out on empty. Continued home and tried resetting the but to no avail. Searched the forum for the subject "low fuel message" but didn't find what I was looking for. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
The fuel gauge gets stuck sometimes. Try a 20oz bottle of Techron (Autozone, Advance Auto etc.) with a full tank of Chevron, Shell or other top-tier gasoline. It might help.

Do a search on "Techron" and you will see a kazillion posts and suggestions on the subject.
This must be happening more and more latley. My vette did the same thing last week, and so did my wife's Grand Am, and my friends Infiniti Q45. It must be the gas, the Vette and my friends Q45 gets premium from Costco, and the Grand Am gets cheap gas @ QT. On all 3 vehicles we put in some fuel injector cleaner and all is well. I think they are switching to the summer fuel out here in AZ, and we might be getting the bottom of the barrel gasoline. That's my theory.... Oh and of course, some theories that don't happen to support the evidence can be sold as a "Fact, built on consensus, and nevermind the historical data"...

About three years ago we had this problem in the midwest. The problem turned out to be too much sulphur in the gas. My 98 Pace Car and wifes LHS Chrysler had fuel problems. Ashland/Mobil is a major fuel supplier in the midwest and their gas was the problem. Cost them millions of dollars paying for repairs. They fixed both of my cars at a cost of amost $2000. for the pair.
Yesterday, my 2000 Vert kicked the low fuel message. I haven't seen or heard anything of Ashland/Mobil stepping up and admitting anything yet. The 2000 had about a 1/3 of a tank. Think I am gonna try the Techron and a fill up of Shell and say a prayer.
