With all the labor involved in swapping a cam on a C5 I wouldn't waste my time on a LS6 cam. The cam is marginally different and wouldn't yeild much. 921's are way overkill for an LS6 cam and would eat up power.
If you're going to take the time... put in a cam that's worth while... 224/228 at least. I have a G5-X2 which is a 232/240 cam.
EVEN though the cam is free, you are going to go thru a LOT of work for LITTLE gain IMHO - you will end up spending $250.00 on new gaskets for this project, etc - IMHO, the gains are not worth the pains -get a bigger cam (aftermarket) if you are going to do it, or don't mess w/ it.
I think I'd have to disagree with the naysayers... A free cam that will give at least 20 hp over the LS1, work well with the STS TT, for just the cost of installation doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. And $250 for gaskets/fluids is too much. I would go with the 918's with that combo, however, or even ZO6 springs.
Like said above i wouldn't waste the effort and time with a LS6 cam. The reasons are:
-cost of fluids
-labor(either your time or someone elses)
-cost of a tune
-springs
You gain quite a bit more with an after market cam over the Ls6 cam.
I would change the springs because the ls1 springs where weak to begin with and the moment you try to increase the rev limiter on the engine when tuning the springs will more than likely begin to float. They even float at times without increasing the rev limiter.
If you are going to spend the time to do this, I would go the little extra and do it completely right.
It is completely up to you though.

If it's an 02 -04 LS6 cam your going to need longer pushrods too. 7.425 should do it. I did this swap to my 02 coupe and overall I’m pleased with it. Don’t think I would do it again but it’s ok for now. I installed a cam in an 03 ZO6 and the deal was I got the old parts plus enough cash for gaskets, pushrods and new LS6 valve springs (yellows) for my car. Before the cam/valve springs my valves would float about 5,800 RPM. After the cam and a little tweaking with EFI Live it now revs to 6,500 no problem. HOWEVER if your going to pay somebody to install a cam and do the tune work it makes no sense to install an LS6 cam. Listen to the advice from the posts above. Yes I’m saving up for a cam and valve springs…..
