Default Shifting problems '04 Z06

I recently had my 3rd gear synchro go bad and under warranty had the dealer fix it. As part of the repair they also replaced the shift forks and I had them install some RPM bushings etc to make it stronger. At the same time they installed my Textralia clutch and also a C6 shifter. The clutch chattered pretty bad at first but is getting better. My bigger problem is that the shifter feels like it is hanging up when you are running the car hard. At the track tonight it wouldn't go into 2nd on two runs and third on another. Ultimately I could get it into gear and continue the passes but only after a couple of tries. I know anyone can miss a shift but not 3 runs in a row and not the first to second shift. I didn't have any problem before the repairs. It really feels like a gate or something is hanging it up and not letting it go into gear. The shifter also feels really notchy. What do you guys think? Is the regular C6 shifter the same as the C6 Z06 shifter everyone raves about? I like the shift **** and feel of the shifter height etc but this is rediculous. What is the likely cause of the problem? Shifter, trans, clutch? thanks

I think that all C5 have a crappy manual transmissions.
IMHO only a handfull of them work perfect.
i had my car to the dealer a few times with the reverse gear not going in all the time. They said that "others are worse".
There was a ZO6 parked there for an oil change and service advisor asked me to get in it and go thru the gears with him ....the ZO6 was worse in every gear....so then he was right....the owner wasn`t even complaining bout the trans thou...

I think you can get it better but never perfect

Hmm sounds like slave cylinder may be failing, not allowing the clutch to completely disengage and making it hard for you to slam the gears at high rpm. Check the color of the hydraulic fluid in your clutch master cyl reservoir.

I had the same problem. My car would not shift right at high rpms. I was missing 3rd gear bad. I to have the Textralia clutch. Do a search on Ls1 tech. These clutches are starting to get negative feedback. The shifting in my car is also very notchy. They say not to use an adjustable master cylinder. One guy said the problem w/ the clutch is that they are using a stock pressure plate w/ an upgraded disc. I don't know what your HP is, mine is over 500, and they don't seem to think it can hold up. I don't know, some guys are having great luck, but a lot are starting to have problems. Search my post and you'll get more info. on my situation. Good luck! My tranny was just rebuilt.

I hope it is the shifter but I will see. The dealer did not replace the slave cylinder like I asked. The car only has 10K miles. I just changed the clutch because they were in there doing the transmission. Does anybody know if the regular C6 and the C6 Z06 shifters are the same? What adjustments are there?
