So I'm really diggin the idea of installing some switchback LED turn signals, but it sounds like the only route to fix the rapid flash is to install resistors. I know in other cars you can swap the flasher module with an electronic one, and then you can use any bulb you like. Has anyone figured out how to do such a swap on the C5?
I had the same problem when I changed over to LED turn signals. I called several places that sold flashers. They all told me that C5s have a unique, one of a kind flasher that has not yet been made into an electronic flasher unit.
You need an electronic flasher to get the correct blinking sequence in an LED turn signal because it draws much less current. Plus the C5 flasher replacement requires a lot more disassembly then most cars.
I wired a resistor to both of my front turn signal and everything works great. But you need to attach the resistor to metal because it does get very hot.
I did some searching in my Service Manual last night and it appears that both the hazard blinker, and the turn signal blinker are housed in the hazard light switch next to the center AC duct. Anyone have a spare hazard switch (broken etc), that I could tear apart and try to mock up an electronic blinker?
