Default Big Nasty Sounding Cam

Okay what is the badest sounding cam you can stuff into a stock 1997 ls1, and if I change the heads, What are your opinions???

Going to be building a LSX motor when released but it wont be in the car this year...

Yes, we use the cam more than any other one. My tuning process is 3-4 hours, not just a few rips on the dyno. I had it in my 02 Z28 for a year and drove the car year round until the tranny started to go, and it shattered 6 valve springs bouncing off the rev limiter. I had no driving issues, and the cold starts were good as well.

For springs, nothing less than Patriot Golds. If you want better than that, then go with Comp Cam 26921's.

Tuner,
Is it true that you have to flycut the pistons with the G5x3? I keep hearing it both ways.

If you do the cam on a 114 LSA you will not have to cut. Anything lower and you will have to flycut. As a rule though you should check PTV clearance before firing it up even with a g5x3 on a 114.

Here's a video of a custom ground cam at idle set up we did this weekend, a little different than the G5x3/4.
