well, as the title implies, I am curious about your opinions concerning lubrication of the shifter itself?
I have a B&M shifter.
I lubricated it with plain ol'WD40 once awhile back and it seemed to shift so much better and easier. But as we all know, WD40 has no staying power and it soon got sticky and ended up being worse than before. So I then lubricated it with some graphite. This also helped for a little while, but quickly went away and is once again sticky and now doesnt return to the center when bringing it out of gear.
Did I mess up totally by trying to lubricate? What should I do now? take the shifter out and give it a good cleaning to get all the previous attempts out of there and then leave it alone or lubricate with a grease?
well, I just got off the phone with B&M and the tech said that I should take the shifter out and clean it up good and then relubricate with lithium grease.
