Ok I finally got the new rotors and I'm going to mount everything back today. I want to get the calipers nice and clean. Before I put the new shoes in Can I spray the calipers down with Break cleaner or can it do any damage?? Is there somthing better I can use? The calipers are still attached to the car just unbolted from the main bracket.
Yeah you can use brake cleaner, I'd be careful not to get any on your paint. I'd even follow it up dawn and a good stiff brush too...
Before I painted mine, I cleaned them really good but they were stained. Probably from a combination of brake dust and heat... but the staining was pretty significant. Hopefully your's aren't stained like mine were...
I haven't found an easy way to clean them once they are stained.. brake clean is fine but as said.. be careful not to get it on the paint it can very likely damage it..
