My son's C5's steering column is locked up again.....and since he is stranded....he decided that this is a good a time as any to install his new steering lock simulator install kit from Corvettes of Houston.
My song a Steering Lock Simulator Install kit from Corvettes of Houston.....and can't get it to work.
It is installed.....but the steering column lock will not disengage. He has tried the cigarette lighter plug assembly.....but that did not work.
The instructions say to remove fuse 25 and 29....however there is no 29.
Any thing else he should try?
Thanks so much!!!

If the bypass is connected properly and it has voltage, the motor may be dead. From other threads, it sounds like they do fail.
so it is possible that the column lock was functional enough to indeed lock on me, and then fail? trying hard to understand what my problem is
the bypass was certainly easy to install. the car has power. everything is hooked up correctly. cig lighter works...yet the plug assembly connector does nothing to disengage the column when ign turned to "on."
so this means that I am SOL huh? lol.
really appreciate any insight or what plan of attack a dealer would have....
thanks! (from the side of the road)
Sounds like you are indeed in bad way if the lock motor will not release. Another forum member had a very similar problem with a defective motor. The dealer wanted to charge him $400 to $500 to replace the motor just to release the lock and then bypass it with GM’s recall “fix”. After some debate, they did replace it at no charge. Someone with more expertise than I may know of a way around it.

Did you try jerking the wheel to try and jolt the lock pin into moving?A number of people have claimed that you can jerk the steering wheel hard to the right with the key removed and then insert the key and try to unlock it. I've also read that you can remove the knee panel cover under the steering column and whack the lock motor with a rubber hammer. Maybe you want to give both a shot - it's worth a try! Good luck - Bruce

Phew, finally jerked the **** out of it and it went free! Took me awhile (it was hot out here in texas today, lol) to figure out to put it back to stock and then jerk the wheel more...
So now it is home and I guess i can reinstall the bypass and hope for the best???

Attempting a CLB install after the column locks (as in fails and gives the "pull key wait 10secs" message) will not "unfail" the column lock. It needs to be in the "not failed" mode before installation. Once installed properly, it prevents the motor from getting power and eliminates any warning message since the ECM thinks it's working OK.
Mine works fine.

This is true. You will never get it unlocked with the CLB connected and the lock motor NOT connected. As stated above you can only install the CLB when the column is unlocked. It's at this time you pull the fuses so the column won't lock before you plug in the bypass.
