Default Little chips in windshield …

What are you guys doing with those little chips in the windshield glass? No crack, just little holes from little stones hitting the windshield on the freeway. Any fix, or just ignore
Today one came flying at me, and sure enough left a nice chip in the glass :mad

After just one winter in Chicago, my windshield was so sandblasted that State Farm paid for a new one (HUD W/S installed was almost $2,000). I don't think they are going to do that every year....

Polishing the entire windshield usually produces distortion. Next time I pick up a mark, I plan to use some toothpaste on a square-cornered pencil eraser to smooth it a little. I don't want to go outside the original nick, just smooth the nick itself.

Let us know if you try this idea, or something better.

I'm just waiting till a big rock hits it so I can replace it! $500 deductable.... but better than like $2000 for the HUD windshield

Some of the repair people are pretty good with small nick, some aren't. Ask around. I had one ws repaired a half dozen times and was still intact when traded off 15 years after the first repair (and a rather large one at that). Best of luck.

My 99 has several little chips in the windshield. Unless they get a lot bigger, I will not do anything with them. I Houston, chips in your windshield seem to be a way of life. Don't let the little things bother you. :chevy

Me too. In Florida insurance must pay 100% of a cracked windshield so at some point I'll take a hammer to it.
