Has anyone running MSD coils on a 97, or any other year had this happen???? The car will not fire with eight MSD coils but will fire and run on 7 MSD and 1 stock. After its running you can pull any MSD coil and it will continue to run, with misfire, but if you pull the stock coil it will stop. It does the same thing on any cylinder.

Thats pretty crazy, but actually not surprised. I would be interested in hearing what you find out. I was thinking about the msd coils myself.
I've got MSD coil on plug coils and do not have that problem. In fact the car runs very smooth.I am very pleased with this mod-no HP gains, but the car runs smoother than it did with the stock '98 coils

Running with the MSD coils in my -00 FRC without problems.
I made one mod when installing the coils but I do not know if it matters. I do not like the very thin ground wires(one from each package of 4 coils) so I routed a new ground wire from each coil pack to ensure best possible grounding.
