My 01 wouldn't start on one occasion, in below zero weather. It was jumped and has never hesitated to start since. Probably started about 20 times since then. The volts read 14.5 on the instrument panel, it's the original 7yr. Delco. Do I really need to replace it? I normally only drive it in warm temps.

Your battery is getting old and is losing its ability to hold a charge. So yes you need a new battery. I personally like the Ptima brand because they are sealed and the battery acid won't leak all over critical wiring and PCM.
My brother just bought a 99 FRC and the first thing we did was go out and change the battery.
