Default Magnaflow installed.

Thanks to Shawn for hooking me up. The exhaust came in a monstrous box. I took it out and the inlets to the muffler were creased in so I tapped them out with a hammer. No biggie. Easy to bolt right up and straighten out, A-1 quality workmanship by Magnaflow. The system is BEAUTIFUL. It's so shiny I didn't want to put it on knowing it was going to get dirty :mad . X-pipe fit well, all fit perfect.
Now, coming from STRAIGHT PIPES (very loud, but nice) to Magnaflow. I had my friend start it up. It has a nice mellow rumble, VERY quiet in relation to straight pipes but a little louder than stock. I hop in and take it for a drive....I can't hear anything remotely loud. I guess coming from straightpipes I'm accustomed to a ROAR but now it's very faint, not much louder than stock inside. No resonance at cruising speeds whatsoever. I'm gonna stand outside and let a buddy romp it to hear what it sounds like. I guess I was anticipating more of a growl but it still sounds very good, clean and mellow. The looks of it are just phenomenal. I'm blown away by the craftsmanship, stellar. I'm guessing the sound is between stock and Corsa Touring. I'm happy with it. I enjoyed my loud "fit of rage" I had, now I can blow people's doors off and they won't hear it, rather they're able to focus more on me blazing by them :D

C5Noir,

How did the car feel? Any difference in torque pulling power? Did the car feel like it pulled harder?

The best way to hear the Magnaflow is to stand outside the car and have someone take off at WOT and you will hear how strong and mean the car sounds. Inside the car will be very quiet because that is how Magnaflow designed it.

DEAD QUIET inside the car and mean, strong V8 rumble outside the car!!

ENJOY!!

Shawn

Levi,

I bet the neighbors are happier:)

I thought they'd be louder than the Corsa Touring as you describe...could it be your ear has taken a beating with the no pipe sound for so long?

Shawn, I really couldn't get on it, I have nail in my rear passenger tire and I was 6 lbs low, so I wanted to get home and fill it up, I didn't want to lose control rompin' it with the tire the way it was. Plus it was late, I'm getting it patched today, will do idle re-learn and romp it :D. I'm going to have my friend to some flyby's for me so I can hear it :).
RG, I think I'm just so used to obnoxiously loud straight pipes. Damn sensory adaptation, sometimes the human physiology can be frustrating :), or hell, I may be deafened somewhat from the XR-1's :D. Anyway, I'll report back after I drive it some :D. Later fella's.

glad your thrilled about your new Magnaflow system. just got mine in the other day from shawn at l.a.p.d. and love it. i went with the Magnaflow system plus x-pipe as well. As everyone has stated about this system, it is top quality.
i really anticipate this system being a top contender is the months to come,
because i know i'm probably the only one in my area with this system thus far.
when word gets out, there will be alot of owners picking up this system.
I wanted to thank Shawn at LAPD for being so great in helping me with everything. Definitely a first class man who knows how to take care of his people. For example, i ordered some HID bulbs from MIDAMERICA last week and put them in yesterday. well, one of the bulbs broke and i called MIDAMERICA to get a replacement and they told me it would be in 5 days from
now. i don't know about you but i don't want any down time on my C5 even if
its just a high beam bulb. the point to this story is i called Shawn at LAPD before i called MIDAMERICA and told him what had happened. i didn't realize until the next morning that i never ordered it from Shawn but when i looked out my front door this morning there was the bulb from Shawn not MIDAMERICA, because MIDAMERICA won't have it here for 5 more days. i know where 100% of my business will be for now on. thanks again Shawn.

That is a very nice system. I was really impressed with it on the recent Z06 we installed it on. It sounded great although it is a heavy system compared to a stock Z06 catback. I do think it is still worth the money!

We actually put it on a Z06 that also had one of our 385ci put in it at the same time, so no I don't. Sorry

c5noir,

congratulations on your magnaflows !!
i want to get a set but i can't get past the billet plate in the middle. i don't want to feel like a billboard.
can it be removed? i wonder if i could find a smaller version of an exhaust plate and put that between the pipes.

thanks,

ROCKnROLL
