Had a decent day here in Chicago yesterday. Thought I would take the Vette to the car wash and blow away the winter dust. Turned over the Vette and battery did not have enough juice to turn over starter. There was some power as dome light did illuminate.
Jumped the battery with my Avalanche. Now I have a check engine light that won't go out. Vehicle runs fine, battery did charge up ok.
Anyone have any ideas on the "check engine" light staying illuminated?
Thanks for all the info on how to access codes. Checked it out last night and found a lot of old codes designated with an H. Finally came across one, started with BOM I believe, hit reset, the code disappeared and the check engine light disappeared as well. Seems everything is back to normal.
I too live in the Chicago region and had the same condition with my car. The battery did not have enough power to start the car, but had enough to keep power. I did not get a check engine light like you did. It is probably because you lost so much battery power to simulate a conditon where the battery was disconnected. On OBD II cars, if you disconnect the battery it sets a code. This prevents people from doing this to erase codes. I would bet that if you erase your codes and keep sufficient battery power that you will not see this again. Please advise.
