i just changed my fluids to rp last month and everything seems to be doing fine, except for the trans. the counter guy gave me rp atf fluid and now i am having to put more effort into getting into first gear. i am going to pick up 4 quarts of rp syncromax this afternoon and drain the trans to see if the syncromax makes any improvement. the gear oil is supposed to have the posi additive in it, but i put a bottle in there also.
I stick with mobil 1, as a matter of habit, but alot of people here use the RP, with no complaints. It's like tires, as many brands that are available, that is how many opinions you will get. I doubt it really makes much difference with this stuff, as long as you use the right viscosity for your engine.
I've been hearing bad things about mobil 1 recently from a few different sources. I'm going to be changing my oil to Royal purple in a little over a week because I need to anyway after my cam install... My buddies that are hard core car nuts swear by that stuff....

Last summer there was an article In one of the mags (i think it was vette mag. or corvette fever) that ran a test on the dyno using mobile one vs RP. The first couple of pulls they used mobile one, then without removing the vehicle from the dyno, they drained the mobile one and put in RP and pulled a couple more runs. I was amazed to find out that the RP produced around 6 more hp to the wheels. The test was done at a speed shop In south Jersey.

Means nothing. I bet I can find some other "products" that will produce similar results. I would be more inclined to choose an oil based on Used Oil Analysis results than whether 6hp was picked up. If you don't belive me, heck go buy about any 5w-20 engine oil and do that dyno/drain/dyno thing again. I bet the thin oil gives similar if not better gains...the question is, do you want to run it in your engine. And before you say I'm slamming RP...I'm not...Just slamming this method of oil approval. But the only time this method is smart is when you are needing every available horsepower to win pole position in certain race events.

Hammer
I do agree with you statement. I'm sure that there are tests that favor any companies products, even using independant labs. That's why I'm asking the people that count to me.....The people that use the product.
That and I'm tired of paying $2.50 a gallon and making Mobil or any other BIG oil company richer. Granted, it's business, but I can't stand Greed! Barrell of oil prices came down and the price at the pumps stayed the same or went up! What does that say? Someone's profiting from that! That's why if I can find an oil that works as well or better than Mobil One and it's not one of the major oil companies, then I'm all for the "Little Guy"!

"means nothing" Then give me the proof that other products produce the same results...don't speculate, base It on facts from Independant tests like I have. Not trying to slam you, but Isn't xtra hp what we all are trying to gain when modifing our corvettes?
