Default Wheel Speed Sensor vs CV - Anyone Else Had Issues?

Well, I recently have been throwing the codes C1228 and C1235, which threw the service ABS/TC/AH errors and pointed to the RR wheel. I had recently put in new wheel studs and been working in that area, so I went back in to look. Sure enough one wire out of the wheel hub was wearing on the CV area.

Two Problems:
1) The wire wasn't broken, just exposed on one side. Do you think that's enough to throw the codes? I'm assuming static electricity from the rubbing could do it since the wires are low voltage.

2) There really isn't a good way to keep the darn wire away from the CV, even if you pull it back carefully. Has anyone else had this issue? It seems it would be rather common.

TIA

Exposed wires are bad, m'kay?
You could wrap it with ETape, but once the moisture is in
there, the wires will corrode, and the sensor will fail in time.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture, would you?

Yeah, kinda figured exposed wires are bad.

I did repair it with ETape. I figure I'll be in there again, but I wanted to give it a shot. I can figure out better ways of repair, but wanted feedback from those who have dealt with these errors or direct contact with CV issues.

Any photo of the back side of a rear spindle with axle should spell out the problem.

I'm rather surprised that this isn't a common issue looking at the path the wires must take.

That's kind of why I asked - because I don't remember this being
a problem. I've had wheels off of my C5s a lot when changing
brake pads, and don't remember that wire being in a bad spot.

You wouldn't see that wire easily just pulling the wheels off doing basic work. You need to be deeper in there to see it.
