Been through the banging, hammering, slamming, button pushing, relay checking phase of my passenger side window motor.
Decided to replace the motor and regulator.
Been all over the site and cannot find a how/to regarding this job.
I've had the panel off several times but have never snaked out a motor and regulator.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I found this link on this site. I too have a similar problem - the passenger window - now going on two weeks. I just haven't the time to work on it yet.
just had this issue with my pass window, wouldn't work all of a sudden. Pulled the panel off, the motor was getting really hot, had voltage, seemed like it was bound up. Was going to replace and waited another week, that regulator assembly is expensive. then one day I slammed the door and the thing works now. Have no idea why or how, but it freed itself up.
The brushes are probably just stuck. This happens a lot on the passenger side as it is not used very much. You can take the door panel off and then the speaker. After that you can use a torx ( sorry I don't remember the size ) to remove the 4 bolts that hold on the motor housing. Spin the armature a few time to loosen up the brushes and put it back together. It only takes about 15 minutes and is free. If you will just lower the window once a week or so, it should last a long time.
Thanks Reb,
This has been a long standing or should I say often repeating problem[car is a 2000].
I have tried all the tricks which work for a short while.
Decided finally to bite the bullet and install a new motor and regulator.
Could really use some how/to on the actual mechanical aspect of this job.
Has anyone ever replaced one of these units or know of a link to help?
Thanks,
Gene

I asked the exact same question the day before you did. Seems noone on this forum has tackled that task. I've sized it up and it looks like a tough one. I think I'll try to take the motor off and spin the armature like RobertEarl suggested. Otherwise, it's a new motor/regulator assembly for me. I'll figure out how to get it in when the time comes.
twas easy to replace...door cavity on a C5 is like a big empty cave. Regulator is just a motor and platic track...bolts in and out. Door panel wasn't hard at all nothing hidden that I remember....we waited a year to do my son's because we thought it would be difficult....not so.

Hey Thanks much!!
That's the kind of info I was looking for.
As usual, some hints as what to look out for can often save a bunch of time.
I already have the parts and I'll tackle the job this week.
Appreciate your help,
Gene
Live in SC. but thanks for the offer of help.
Here are the ajusment bolts with the door panel on. Try to get all your ajustments done before you put the panel back on. But if need be... you can fine tune here with panel on. ALSO !!!!! DO NOT FOR GET TO HOOK BACK ALL WIRING BEFORE YOU PUT DOOR PANEL BACK ON !!!!!!!!! Put a sticky note on door panel to remind you of this ( check wiring hook ups ). I made this mistake... friend called, I was talking to him as I was doing the last steps and forgot to hook up wires... NEVER AGAIN ! Last advise TURN PHONE OFF.

Whoa am I glad to see this before I began the job.
I really would have been in deep dog droppings without it.
Really, really appreciate your effort to help me out.
Thanks,
Gene
Thank you guys. Illustrations are surely a great healp. My friend phoned me last night on getting his new chevy window motors in placed. But i never tried it before.
Good Information. I've replaced mine 3 times. I've done the passenger side twice, and the driver side once. I purchased used units off ebay. It's really not difficult. You just have to tweak the alignment to get the glass just right.
I would recommend you purchase a new unit. It's more expensive, but it should last awhile.
I tried taking the motor apart, checking out the brushes etc. I also disassembled the spool. It took several hours to get it all back together, and it worked. For 2 days.
Buy new and be done with it. Gene Culley will get you the best price.
I Agree. A new one is best, but they are so expensive. I got mine from Window Lift in Florida ( they are good guys and they stand behind there stuff ). I have not had any prob. with mine nor my budies. I have hand mine on for less then a year with no prob. But the one we installed on my budies vette is going on just over 2 years with no probs. One thing for sure... don't mess with the old one. I too thought I had mine fixed, re-installed it and lest then one full day, it went out again.
So just get another one and install it ( A new one, if you can take the hit ).
