Auto shifter removal???

I just bought a new shifter **** for my C5 A4. The instructions on how to remove the old **** are somewhat vague. I did a search and can't seem to find an answer. Does anyone know how to remove the stock shifter **** from an '04 A4? Thanks for your anticipated help.

What type of shifter did you get?

Did the website work? What type of shifer did yo get. Can you post a picture when you get it installed. I have an automatic and am considering changing it.

Put the shifter into 1st, you'll see a U shaped pin sticking into the back of the shift ****. You'll have to pry it out with a small flat head screwdriver which can be a bit of a pain at first. Once that's out, the **** pulls right off.
