thanks goes to Rick Daniel at Maxie Price for a good deal, and easy long distance transaction...
I am noticing under very light throttle in 1st gear, a slight rattling sound, coming from the tranny clutch area.... it goes away quickly, but just doesn't sound right....
its easily repeatable.... if slowly let out the clutch in first gear, and am just barely moving with the clutch all the way out, then give it slight throttle, it makes the grinding noise...
Rattle is normal. You'll learn to forget it is even there. Give it a little more gas and you can launch the car without the rattle (most of the time). Nice picture of the Viper and Corvette by the way. :D
He was running them both on 15% ethanol to keep them mellow. Shortly after that picture was taken, they were at each other's ... err, throttle bodies. It was ugly -- fiberglass and plastic everywhere. You really shouldn't park those two cars so close to each other...
thanks for the info... been through the 1st to 4th thing with the Viper, I don't run into that problem much, as I'm usually pretty heavy on the throttle...
ahhh... the video, yea, have to watch that....
as for parking em too close.... I'm new here, and won't start a Viper vs Vette war... :)
I noticed the same thing with my 2000 MN6 coupe. Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal transmission noise. Since then, I have seen other posts about this noise indicating it is normal.
Beautiful cars, and welcome to the forum!!!!
You know you're going to have to put up on the Viper-killer plate, though :yesnod:
THAT means mods... and you've sooooo come to the right place for that   :flag
That rattling sound from the rear of the car is normal. It's unfortunate, but normal. Enjoy the car, just get through 1 gear quick and the sound will be gone :). It is really present at slow speeds in 1st gear, but that is about it.
Brooks,I noticed you bought out of Atlanta. The dealers down here seem to discount very little.
Congratulations,I am always in Pembroke Pines,I'll keep an eye out for ya.
I hate it when I see a rear view of a C5 next to a Viper. Looking at the difference in tires makes the vette look like a little girlie car. One of these days, I'm going to have to tub the coupe and really turn it into a supercar! :jester
yea, no dealers wanted to discount more than $1000 down here in south florida.....
just took it out and did a few runs with the GTEC pro..... learned pretty quickly that launching with the traction control on is a total waste of time..... car would fall on its face as soon as any slip was detected....
the gtec ranged from 13.36 - 13.62 @ 110.1 - 110.8 MPH, sound about right?
I'm sure I can get a better launch with some more practice....
