I am in the middle of a cooler install as part of my torque converter install. I would be happy to post pics and comments as I go along if you would like. You could learn from my mistakes which I'm sure there will be many.
I feel the B&M 24,000 is a good unit for our cars. Not real pricey and it comes with fittings for a couple of different types of hook ups. Mine has been on for over a year with no problems and we have some pretty warm weather here in Az. Install is straight forward and easy.
A B&M 24,000 is a very good choice! Since you are located in the middle of the desert, I suggest that you run the new cooler stand-alone. This means that you will no longer use the cooler that is built into your radiator. Doing this will bring your tranny temperatures down significantly. Before I installed my cooler, my tranny temps used to average about 215. When I drove it hard I would see 230 to 245! Now with the new cooler, My temps average 145 and when driven hard , upto 174. These temperatures are in the summer here in the back country of San Diego. Also, installing the cooler is a cheap, easy, and do-it-yourself mod!
It isn't a bad idea to have someone with small arms nearby. I couldn't reach very far up my condensor to put the cooler in, my forearms kept hitting. That was the only challenge! It's a cake install!
Since you live in one of the hottest areas in the country, I would recommend one of the B&M coolers w/fan.
I previously ran the B&M 2400 model and it still ran a tad hot.
I have since switched to the largest B&M model w/fan, stand-alone, mounted in the right front snout/brake duct cavity.
MAJOR improvement, again, in your area I`d go with the largest cooler you can squeeze in.

Mine is the same and installed the same way. Pretty hot here in South Florida and tranny temps are now VERY LOW.
Man I really like the idea of a tranny cooler and would like to see some pics of an install too. For the guys up north in Ohio would you recommend running the cooler stand alone or in series? I have been doing some reading and if it is run in series does the tranny produce enough pressure to pump through both coolers or is an additional pump required?
I bought 2 B&M cooler's with fans and mounted one on each side where the front brake duct hose's are.I took the brake duct hose's out of course and where there was a hole in the fender well I bought vents facing them down so no dirt or dust gets in there and air can pass through,And I put screens on the bottom so when the fans come on that hot air has somewhere to go.I had pictures of the cooler's,But I don't know what happen to them.I could have done it alittle neater,But you really can't see some of those parts................Paul
I don't like those universal mounting kits so I fabed some brackets out of aluminum angle I got at Lowe's.
I'm using the biggest cooler I could get from B&M the 11 X 11 X 1 1/2
This is the cooler with the air dam installed. You can't tell from the photos but the cooler is held about 1/2 inch off of the AC condenser so they will not rub.

JIM, DID YOU USE THE STANDARD RUBBER HOSE AND CLAMPS, OR SOMETHING DIFFERENT? DID YOU MOUNT ON THE CONDENSOR? I DID THAT WITH MO C4 AND DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. I WAS WONDERING HOW IT WORKED WITH THE C5.
Used the B&M 26k-28k cooler when we did our motor work and installed a 28k stall Vig TQ converter.Mine has the built in electric fan.Works great and keeps temps nice and cool.jerry
