The lights do suck, but they need to suck a lot worse before being worth almost a grand.

I recently purchased my C5 and wondered what the problem was with my lights when driving in mountains at night. Last night I pulled them out and found these NOKYA silver tip 80 watt blue things. I put in some 20% brighter than stock sylvania today. Much better .

I wasn't in the mood to spend a lot of $$ on HID quite yet, maybe never. So I found this easy bulb mod perfect and clearly showing a visible benefit as you will see in my pics. Only $60 bucks for these! Definitely worth it and my friend down the street did the same.
Where can these be purchased? Thanks for all the input

one more time... They work great!!!

A cheap and effective improvement would be the Toshiba HIR 9011. I did this in the summer and to me it was well worth the money.

This is not meant to be a wise guy post.
When I upgraded to my C6, one of the bigest benefits I noted was the big difference in lights. I live in the mountains of NY and good lights are necessary, the new lighting system is miles above the C5. I had and liked my 98 Vert. I had it from April 98 to June 05 and it was a good ride. So glad I upgraded to a C6. The new lights are fantastic!

That and the power increase are real good reasons to get a C6

IMO, i would rather upgrade the lighting on my c5 then spend thousands to make a c6 look as good as the c5..

I have Silverstar 9005 (high beam bulbs) in all 4 slots w/ PIAA driving/fog lights. It's almost completely diminished my lust for the $1000 HID kit.

I used to have C5-R lights w/ a 4300k HID kit in them... they sucked becuase the projectors suck.

My buddy Mike has the euro lenses w/ an HID kit... I'll have to check it out as he just did it.

Here's mine...

Again... this is w/ Silverstar 9005's in all four and PIAAs... it's way better than stock was and not that expensive.

they are the worst headlights i have ever owned!
this is why i rarely drive my car at night- with it slammed, i fear i might hit something or dmg a rim
one day, i will do my own custom HID, but for now i race it

Where'd you get them and what'd they cost? That sounds like a reasonable fix if the price is in line.

Here's the link for the Toshiba 9011 bulbs and info on them. You'll see a link at the bottom of the page for buying them via ebay.

See my prior link for a comparison of the lighting before and after. Save yourself 1K and spend it on performance mods instead!

I did the same in all 4 positions, and it is a significant improvement over the Sylvanias. Worth the few $

can you post pics of your headlights against a wall or garage? it will help give the others an idea of the pattern that these bulbs put out.
