Default New Key Remote wont work...

Got a new fob from gm for a 99, and im following the directions (options, reset, key fob training, ect). The problem I'm having is that when it asks me to hit unlock and lock at the same time, nothing ends up happening and the training program exits...

Am I doing something wrong? Could the sensor on the car be dead?

BTW- ordred the part from Gene C, and it came way faster than I expected....

Make sure you got the correct fob, there are 3 different ones.
Make sure the battery in it is good.

I'm assuming the battery is good, I just got it today. Let me see if I can find the part number to double check that it is the right one.

Well, if you are doing everything right and it still wont work, I would pop it open and take a look. I dropped my fob a few weeks ago and it wouldnt work. Turns out the battery clip solder points were broken off the board and the battery was loose and I had to resolder it. Well, a $3 batter is cheap to try before returning it.

When you press the lock and unlock, make sure you hold them down continously until the beep. If you're doing that, the other advice is correct. You either have a bad fob, bad battery in the fob, or bad receiver in the car. The description of the fob you ordered is correct, can't verify the number. Does it have a slide switch on the front that says "passive"? It should if it's for the 99.

I'm not sure what you got, the newer remote (which won't work on your car) is part # 25695955. The number you gave in your earlier post, #10253839 is correct for a 99.

Just googled the part number you received, it says for Chevy Cobalt, Buick LaCrosse, Impala. 05/06

Default key fob not working

For 97-2000 C5s the FCCID # on the back of the fob is AB00216T. Both active and passive fobs will work on 97-2000 vettes but the passive function doesn't work on 2000s. I got several on fleebay for abt $60 plus shipping. All WORKED FINE when programmed. Only problem was one had a dead battery and that had to be replaced. You can have 3 fobs recognized. I doubt that the C5 receiver is broken. If so you would be getting DIC messages about the tire monitoring system as the same receiver is used for both keyless entry and the TPM system BIGHANK
