Does anyone know what this small line is running under/behind the battery? It looks like a vaccuum line of some sort that goes down to the corner of the passenger-side fender and then hits a T-Connection. I can't see where it goes from there, and the upper end goes into a sealed loom along with a bunch of wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The line looks like one of the hard plastic vacuum lines that controls your HVAC system door acuators. Try all vents with the controller **** on your HVAC system. If one of those lines is cracked/broken, your vents won't work properly. Damage is usually caused by leaking battery acid dripping on the line and destroying it. Your vacuum supply line comes from the MAF sensor assembly off the back of the intake manifold, runs through the battery compartment to a check valve attached to your vacuum resivoir down in the passenger fender just ahead of the door jam. The return line goes from the check valve on the vacuum resivoir back into the battery compartment and enters the passenger compartment through the big grommet next to the silver A/C evaporator. I had the problem and used 1/8" emission hose and splicers from Auto Zone and/or Advanced Auto. I cut back the vacuum source line to where it entered the battery compartment, spliced in new line, and ran it back to a new check valve on the vacuum resivoir. I also spliced a new HVAC supply line at the grommet and ran it back to the check valve. To ensure this would never happen again, I encased these vacuum lines in 1/4" ID rubber fuel hose as they ran through the battery compartment. If you see signs of battery leakage, get a new AGM battery, fix these lines and you're good to go. You can get to the vacuum resivoir by removing the passenger wheel well access panel. Good luck!
Thanks!! EXACTLY like what I'm looking at. I really appreciate the info. I don't have much except an O'Reilly's around here, but I'll see what they have.
I went ahead and patched it up the best I could with some materials here at the house. If anything, I believe the AC is colder in the car now. Maybe because a vent door wasn't closing properly before? We'll see if my repair holds out. If not, it won't be much work to get to it again.
