At our local cruise night on Long Island their was a race between a 2001 convert.C5 and a 90 something mustang. The mustang had slicks on it. It was a 3 lane parkway that is deserted at night. I figured if their was a extra lane why not get involved. I let them leave first and then freight trained right by them. The guy in the stang was so pissed of that he lost that he kept saying lets run it on motor. Whats up with that? I said "run what you brung"! I figure if you show up at cruise night with slicks on you ready to run, as I am with a full bottle. Does anyone say turn off your twin turbos in a lingenfelter (not sure how its spelt), or take off your supercharger belt? Or how about take off you head and cam package? I look at it this way, If tomato sauce makes you car run faster than go for it! I still think...Run what you brung. What do you guys think? Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows. Thanks for your input. 2002 Electron Blue with all the Z06 goodies (and a little NOS too)
I get the same Crap at the track. It must be a money thing
Nitrous is a cheap way to go fast. Even if you build a Monster Engine and don't use some N20 you wil still get beat. The GAS is here to stay :D
Some people are against it because it is not representative of the 'continued' performance of the car. Take your car to an oval track, turn on the juice & run 200 laps. ;)
I am still debating nitrous. It provides that extra kick, but it bothers me when I read disclaimers in some 'tuner' sites, wherein they say "their warranty is voided if nitrous is installed," even if they install the set-up.
I like the idea of having power all the time, whenever I want, without having to worry about running out of it. If I have to spend more money to get it, so be it. Nitrous was fun, but it always felt like I was running on borrowed time. Kind of like steriods, it's not really you.
2thDr....I like that comparison to steriods....it is not the consistent representive of the performance of the car....yet it is for a determined period of time...say quater mile. I may go NOS, so am not opposed to it. However, I would do it for track purposes and would use my et NA as a reflection of the consistent power of the car. Just my humble yet very accurate opinion :D
Take the high ground....lock and load....hold the taleban in the cross hairs.
I hear the same BS.I think the butt holes that say NOS is cheating, run it w/o the juice, etc etc Dont have the ***** to run NOS.I have well over 80,000 miles on my car and I spray 150 shot. :D ....Gee I went 11.47 with 150 shot,D/R,powerloader,mufflers,and a Halteck not bad for less them $2000  ALL THROTTLE AND A 10LB BOTTLE :p: :p: :p:
I've never "SQUEEZED" any of My Cars. I'd toyed with a Supercharger, and had Twin Turbos(on another car). Never NOS though. I'll admit it makes me nervous, a little...Bottle pressure has to be right, a solenoid could not open(or stay open)...yada yada.It all comes down to "if it's done right, you SHOULD be ok" and or luck. Bottom line is, IT MAKES POWER...that's fine by me if people use it and like it.
DZ, where have you been? Haven't seen you at the last couple of Challenges. Are you exiled due to no roll bar? Hope to see you soon. I hope next year, I get to run in a C5.
All is fair in love and street racing. If you want to built a 422 ci, twin turbo, and spray a 200 shot, than go for it. Back in the day, two guys would pop the hood, have a look at the other car and make a decsion to run or not to run. If you got beat, you got beat. In this case, it's not like you had any money on the line, you just jumped in to prove a point. And you proved the hell out of it!!
3000ccm+ cars : all cars with more than 3000cm, equal what mods you have
if only they are NA
So don´t matters if you have stock LS1 or 422 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I have to start in the raceclass alsong with the dragster and other monsters only because I have NOS on my otherwise stock engine!!!!!!!!!
For my luck the dragsters get NO traction on our racetracks (streets) and
cannot get down their power.
So I can win!!!
I´m ditto with Tom Hall , I also think it`s a money thing.
NOS is too cheap power for some people.
And also they are very frustrated when their trailered monstercars get beat by my streetcar :D:D:D:D:D
I am totally for NOS. I had a 30 shot b/c there is no '97 kit out yet, I took that off b/c it was to small. I am in constant contact with NOS about the new kit. All they can say is it will be out for SEMA and it is the most high tech kit ever. Grrrrreat. $$$ If you got it, use it!

Nothing against NOS, whatsoever, but that's why I wouldn't use it-- but if you have it...you should absolutely use it:yesnod:--- poor pistang's just got his feelings hurt  :smash:

Re: why is everyone against NOS (MDL-01C5)
I can't have for the same reason I can't take it home from the dentist :D . I would be on it all the time :D I always see major engine damage with it sooner or later it seems. How many have used how much?
I don't think that everyone is against it. Those that are must've never had it or have been around the darker side of it's usage, engine damage etc...
If a street racer doesn't have it then he/she is stupid imo. Unless their combo won't allow it, it is just another way to increase the number of races they can participate in and win.
